Small Team, Big Retail Footprint, No Wasted Motion
This is the story of how a lean marketing team at Milton's used Hummingbirds to run precision creator campaigns across Target, Sprouts, and Publix, then went on to test an Offers pilot that's already proving out real, verified purchases.
3 Things Every CPG Brand Should Take Away
Hummingbirds gave Milton's a way to run precision, retailer-specific campaigns across Target, Sprouts, and Publix, all at once, without adding headcount.
Across the partnership, Milton's kept a highly curated creator pool and strong reach-based engagement, proof that the content itself, not just where it ran, was doing the work.
A separate Offers beta at Target became one of the fastest-moving offers Hummingbirds has run, with real, verified purchases following the free-sample moment.
A Gluten-Free Favorite With Different Goals At Every Turn
Milton's makes gluten free crackers and cauliflower crust pizzas built on a simple promise: better for you doesn't mean giving up flavor. But not every retail moment calls for the same approach. A new SKU launch, a seasonal reset, a push at a specific retailer, each one needed proof at a different level of precision, sometimes concentrated in a handful of priority cities, sometimes spread across the country.
Behind every one of those campaigns is a small team wearing a lot of hats, managing influencer programs, paid media, organic social, sales support, events, and PR all at once, which means they lean heavily on partners to help carry the load.
That workload only grows with Milton's retail footprint. Campaigns needed to speak to shoppers at Target, Sprouts, and Publix, each with its own assortment, timing, and regional nuance. A gluten free pizza that struggled to find interest at Target might be exactly right for a Sprouts exclusive, and a new product rollout in California didn't mean the Pacific Northwest or Arizona were ready to follow on the same timeline.
On top of that, Milton's wanted more than a redemption count. Traditional coupon programs gave them limited visibility beyond eventual sales velocity, and the content itself had started to feel repetitive, another snack board, another flat lay. What Milton's wanted was authentic, social first content they could point to and repurpose, along with a clearer read on what happened after a shopper saw it.
Why Milton's Chose Hummingbirds
Milton's already ran influencer programs through close, one on one creator partnerships. Hummingbirds wasn't there to replace that work. It became, in Milton's own words, a great addition to the team, filling a gap those one on one relationships couldn't cover at scale.
Content With Real Reach
Where a traditional coupon platform stops at a redemption count, Hummingbirds' creator campaigns gave Milton's authentic, social-first content shoppers could actually see and share, real reach they could point to and repurpose.
Support Built To Their Scale
Milton's needed retailer-specific support, and real proof they could bring back to retail buyers, not just impressions. With a small team and a smaller budget, Hummingbirds was built to work at exactly that scale.
Help At Every Step
Campaign planning, retailer targeting, creator selection reminders, and backup processes for product availability meant Milton's never had to run a campaign alone, saving an average of 18+ hours of team time per campaign.
The Right Markets for the Job
Hummingbirds let Milton's get specific about exactly which cities each campaign ran in. When the goal was building deep saturation around a single retailer, the campaign stayed tightly targeted. When the goal was a major product moment, it expanded toward a near-nationwide footprint. The market count was never the headline, it was a dial Milton's could turn to match whatever the campaign actually needed to prove.
Fresh Season, Fresh Crunch — Gluten Free Crackers at Publix
A tightly targeted spring hosting campaign built to saturate Milton's priority Publix markets ahead of Easter.
This Slice Brings the Heat — BBQ Chicken Pizza at Sprouts
A nearly nationwide launch to drive trial on a brand-new item, introducing Milton's Spicy BBQ Chicken Pizza at Sprouts for the first time.
The Crunch You Crave — Protein Crackers at Target
A nearly nationwide push, but a different kind of win: Protein Crackers had already been on shelves for about a year, so this campaign was about building awareness of the new distribution at Target.
Target Runs Hit Different — Protein Crackers, Round Two
An encore Target run for the same Protein Crackers launch, with more interested creators than any campaign before it.
That precision held steady as the program scaled. Across these four campaigns, Milton's activated a combined 52 creators, from a tightly curated 8 for the Publix debut to 20 for the first Target Protein Crackers run.
What that content actually looked like never strayed far from real life: a weeknight dinner, a Target aisle, a Sprouts freezer case. The goal wasn't a polished ad, it was a genuine decision the audience could watch happen.
Total Impact
Four campaigns in six months. Here's what precision targeting actually got Milton's: not a market count, but real reach, real engagement, and real time back for the team running it.
Milton's combined creator reach nearly tripled between its first campaign and its two Target activations, growing from roughly 56K at the Publix debut to more than 170K on each Target run, without adding headcount on Milton's side.

The Offers Beta: Proving Deeper Impact
Starting in May 2026, Milton's began testing Hummingbirds' newer Offers product at Target, a separate beta run independently of the creator campaigns above, layered on top of that existing momentum to see real, verified purchase velocity. The test put 500 free boxes of Milton's gluten free crackers, Crispy Sea Salt and Zesty Ranch, into shoppers' hands. Offers gives everyday shoppers a way to discover a Milton's product, buy it at retailers like Target, and upload a receipt to verify the purchase and earn cash back, all inside the same Hummingbirds dashboard.
Beyond that one retailer test, the same pattern is showing up across every Offers Milton's has run since.
The free-box test at Target became one of the fastest-moving offers on the Hummingbirds platform, and it offered a clear read on where that speed came from. 20-30% of redemptions came directly from product sharing, while 70-80% came through shared nests, the curated product collections that make Hummingbirds' social layer different from a standard coupon.
Two of Milton's Protein Crackers offers have already reached full redemption, and a newer offer has gone further still, past its cap entirely. Shoppers are asking for Milton's faster than the current caps allow, a strong signal for how much room future Offers have to grow.
The Hummingbirds team called it one of the fastest offers they had seen move on the platform, no small feat for a product that isn't the least expensive box on the shelf. The same appetite is showing up on the creator side. Milton's newest campaign, a return to Target, reached full creator capacity before it had even launched. For a program built on real shoppers choosing to participate, that's evergreen appeal building on itself.
Milton's has stayed on as a beta partner at every step, testing new features early and feeding results back into the product, proving out one retail moment at a time.
