How to engage your hummingbirds and create loyal customers
how to engage your hummingbirds and create loyal customers
If you want to get the most out of your campaign, interact with your Hummingbirds on social media. A simple comment or message can turn a one-time customer into a lifetime customer and loyal advocate for your brand.
Follow Them
Being followed by a brand, especially a brand you love, makes you feel like the most special person in the world. After you follow your Hummingbirds, you’ll be able to see what they’re posting directly in your feed! Bonus: if they have a private account on Instagram, you’ll be able to share the content they mention you in if you’re following them and they’re following you back (???I think this is true).
Interact With Them
Now that you’re following your hummingbirds, you’ll be able to interact with all of them. Why interact with them? It shows them that you appreciate their support and care about them as people, not just as content creators or customers. In turn, you’ll stay top-of-mind while creating trust and loyalty.
Your brand can interact with them in a couple ways:
Like and Comment
Liking or ‘hearting’ Instagram posts and stories is quick, easy, and your hummingbirds will notice the interaction. You can also respond to stories with other emojis by sending a message. Some popular emojis are heart-eyes, fire, and clapping hands.
If you really love the content, send them a message or comment on their post with a little note. It could be as simple as two words, or as detailed as a couple personalized sentences!
Share their Content
If your hummingbirds visit your store and share a story wearing their new hat, or cook with your product and tag your brand in their grid post, share it! Depending on privacy settings, you can share grid-posts and stories to your Instagram story. Take it a step further and give them a shoutout thanking them for their support.
Send Them Thank You Notes
Whether you send a physical card when you mail a product, or a personalized message on Instagram, a little note goes a long way! It shows the hummingbirds that you appreciate their time and support.
Tell them About Your Referral Program
Does your brand have a referral program? Tell your hummingbirds about it! They can easily send their referral code or referral link to anyone in their network, but especially to those who interacted with their social media post about your brand. Hummingbirds can also send it to people who may have not seen the post but would love your brand, or they can send it to friends or family who are not on social media.
We discourage the use of affiliate links
Affiliate links go against the authentic nature of Hummingbirds. They’re widely used by traditional influencers who do not have personal connections with their followers and therefore don’t have the time or ability to send referral codes to individual people. Hummingbirds do have this incredibly important connection with their followers because they’re friends, family, neighbors, and other people that they interact with regularly in their community.
Add Them to Your Email List
If your brand sends emails, add your hummingbirds to your lists! Emails are a great way to keep your brand on their radar and entice them to engage with you again and again. Hummingbirds especially love to hear about new releases, events, sales, and anything else that will keep them coming back!
